Paper CVs and form submissions are so boring and ’90s so I’ve decided to at least get myself into the ’00s (are we allowed to say naughties?) and put my CV online for everyone to see.

So before you get yourself into the site here’s just a little bit about me to at least attempt to build a picture of who I am and what I can do.

I’m John McKenzie as the site suggests and I live in Greenock on the west coast of Scotland which is where I was born some 35 year ago.

I am a father of 5 amazing children and husband to my best friend. We live in a small(ish) semi-detached house and have just the one pet, a bichon frise dog.

In my spare time when I’m not with my wife and kids you will most likely see me with a camera in my hand as I do photography as a part time job at the weekends and in the evenings.

Experience

14 Years Experience with IBM UK LTD!

As most of my professional working life has been with IBM this section will cover the various roles I’ve performed whilst working there.

Test Automation Specialist

BigFix Remote Control

Following a company purchase by IBM of MaaS360 I was transferred back to the BigFix Remote Control Team where I picked up the role I left with the addition of some test automation duties using Selenium Hub.

Applications Used:

  • Rational Change and Configuration Management
  • VSPHERE

  • Sellenium

Responsibilities:

  • Create and Manage Test Artifacts (cases, suites etc…)
  • Raise and Manage Defects (my own and ones raised by peers)
  • Manage Virtual Test Environment (imaging, licensing, networking etc…)
  • Reporting

Mobile Device Management Specialist

BigFix Mobile Device Management

I moved to the mobile device management team following another short spell with the BigFix Remote Control team. This role suited me as I have a great knowledge of Mobile Devices and their underlying OS’s.

QA Team Tember

BigFix Remote Control

This was the first of my QA roles within IBM. I worked under a test lead and alongside the developers to ensure a successful release of the Remote Control Target.

This role was my most diverse role in IBM. Whilst supporting the IBM internal accounts at an IT and Telephony level I was also tasked with a number of roles that were not specifically IT related.

IT Team Lead

IBM Cisco Account

IBM provided the Customer Service team for Cisco Order Management and it was my role to liase with Cisco and IBM on the technical requirements and to integrate both companies needs for a hybrid solution on a red network.

When I joined IBM I worked as a call center agent answering IBM’s hardware calls then later moving to a Single Point of contact team who were responsible for IBM’s most valuable clients for hardware support.
